The Basler ToF camera operates on the time-of-flight principle. This principle is based on measuring the time needed by the light to travel from the light source to the object and back to the camera. With a VGA resolution the Basler ToF camera is the first high-resolution ToF camera on the market and also offers the extremely attractive price/performance ratio that Basler is known for. With a field of view of 0.5 to 5 meters, an accuracy of plus/minus one centimeter, a frame rate of 15 fps and the proven GigE interface, our new ToF camera is the ideal solution for a number of applications including factory automation, logistics and medical.

How Does a ToF Camera Work?

The measurement principle is based on the time the light needs to travel from the light source to the object and back to the camera; the further the distance, the longer the time taken. Both light source and image acquisition are synchronized in such a way that the distances can be extracted and calculated from the image data.
