Imperx - Sony Discontinues CCD Image Sensors

IMPERX responds to Sony’s announcement regarding discontinuance of the Sony line of CCD image sensors.

Sony has announced that they will be discontinuing production of all CCD image sensors over the next five years. This will impact twelve models of the IMPERX CCD camera series (see list below). IMPERX, in association with our supply chain partners, has plans to manage the available supply of Sony CCD sensors used in our products during, and beyond, this five year phase out period. In addition IMPERX already has a robust line of cameras using CCD image sensors from On-Semi and is already developing new CCD and CMOS options to serve the needs of our customers.

Allied Vision Expands Goldeye Infrared Camera Series

Fast Goldeye G-033 with new InGaAs sensor and Cool version with enhanced sensor cooling added to the SWIR camera family.

Allied Vision introduces new models of its Goldeye infrared camera series at VISION 2014. The Goldeye is a Short-Wave Infrared camera (SWIR) that exhibits sensitivity between 900 and 1,700 nm.

Goldeye G-033: Fastest SWIR camera with GigE Vision interface
The new Goldeye G-033 features the latest InGaAs image sensor technology. It offers the same sensor resolution as the Goldeye G-032 (640 x 512 Pixels). However, with its smaller pixel size (15 µm vs. 25 µm), it can be used with more affordable lenses.

The Goldeye G-033 stands out of the crowd of SWIR cameras with InGaAs sensors with its very high frame rate. The new camera delivers more than 230 frames per seconds (fps) at full resolution in 12 bit mode. Reducing the resolution to QVGA (320 x 240) allows for a frame rate over 900 fps. This makes the Goldeye G-033 the perfect choice for many demanding applications requiring high speed, such as inline inspection (e.g. hot-end glass inspection) or plastics sorting using hyperspectral imaging in the recycling industry.

Goldeye Cool:
Enhanced sensor cooling for long exposure times
At VISION 2014, Allied Vision will also unveil the Cool version of the Goldeye for the first time. As a standard, all Goldeye models come with an active sensor cooling that ensures low-noise, high quality infrared images. The Goldeye G-032 and Goldeye G-033 are fitted with a fan-less Peltier element TEC1 (Thermo Electric Cooling), which can cool the sensor down by 30 K vs. housing temperature.

DataMan accurately reads 2-D codes on a high-speed folding machine

Instruction leaflets accompany pharmaceuticals to help ensure the appropriate directions are available to consumers. The pharmaceutical industry needs to be diligent in checking that the appropriate instruction leaflets accompany their packages. These leaflets need to be checked on both sides to ensure correct print and handling. This validation is done by matching the 2-D code on both sides of the leaflet with a reference code.

B3Servis is a folding machine builder that serves multiple industries in the Slovenian market, including pharmaceuticals. In order to maintain and grow its business in leaflet instructions printing, B3Servis wanted to comply with the latest GS1 recommendations for the healthcare sector. B3Servis’ business goal was to upgrade from the existing laser-based system that can only read 1-D codes to an image-based system, giving them the ability to reliably check 2-D codes on a high-speed folding machine. The folding machine processes up to 30,000 pieces per hour with a flyby speed of approximately three meters per second.

Instruction leaflets, handled by B3Servis, also come in different sizes and the codes will be positioned differently depending on the size, so the reader needs to support multiple configurations of the leaflets. In an effort to establish correct reads, it was often necessary to set the exact position of the tape in front of the readers. B3Servis turned to DataMan fixed-mount barcode readers to address code reading challenges on its printed instruction leaflets

Mikrotron High Speed Camera India

Slow Motion in Process Analysis and Quality Control
Today’s high quality and safety standards in automotive industry require the application of state-of-the-art technology. MIKROTRON image processing systems are used by both car manufacturers and suppliers for development, research and production purposes as well as in quality and process control.

In the automotive industry high-speed cameras allow for a comprehensive analysis of fast motion processes, especially in systems and component control, crash tests, airbag tests or in materials testing for the production of tires.

In a crash test, thousands of pieces of data must be recorded in fractions of a second. Smooth interaction among the individual components of a high-speed imaging system as well as the effective capturing of all data are crucial. That‘s why extensive experience and professional expertise are required for the planning and installation of these complex systems. Thanks to our partnership with the company High Speed Vision, we could offer complete solutions for crash tests, test stands, and crash sleds, as well as customized services for planning, installation, and training.
